What is the difference between equipment design and cost calculation? (I hope to introduce it from aspects such as functions and methods.)
Simply put, it’s like a distillation column: if you know the requirements for separating the products – such as the purity of key components in the overhead product, the purity of key components in the bottom product, and the yield from the overhead – then calculating parameters such as the theoretical number of theoretical plates and the minimum reflux ratio is part of equipment design； Conversely, if the tower already exists and one needs to determine whether it can meet the separation requirements and what level of separation can be achieved, this falls under calculation. Other devices are similar. It’s just my personal opinion; I hope those with more experience can correct me.
