Could everyone please help explain the reasons for an overload-induced shutdown of a centrifugal pump during normal operation? Thank you
There are mainly two reasons for the centrifugal pump to shut down: 1. The flow rate exceeds the specified value, causing the motor to overcurrent and shut down. This can be controlled by adjusting the outlet valve of the centrifugal pump to maintain an appropriate flow rate. 2. Mechanical failure: increased bearing friction leads to motor overload and shutdown; the pump needs to be stopped for maintenance.

It could also be due to an unbalanced shaft connection between the motor and the pump, which results in excessive load and causes the machine to shut down. Alternatively, it might be caused by a detached or damaged seal ring on the pump, among many other possible reasons.

If it shuts down when there is no load, that indicates a problem.
