The small cover of the Φ1600 synthesis tower in our plant leaks frequently. Flat gaskets made of 10# steel are used, with a seal surface width of 8 mm. Since the unit was put into operation last May, it has caught fire several times due to these leaks. The gaskets have been replaced several times, and later toothed gaskets were used; however, due to the narrow seal surface, the results were not very satisfactory. I believe the design is unreasonable. I would appreciate it if everyone could discuss possible solutions and offer some suggestions! ! Thank you in advance! ! !
I don’t know which company designed and manufactured it; a lens pad should be used, so why is it a flat pad? It is recommended to have the original design firm revise the design.
During operation, as the tower temperature rises, the small cover should be thermally tightened at regular intervals, and leaks should be checked periodically. Air leakage from the small cover can lead to fires, which are extremely dangerous and can easily damage the external cables of the electric furnace. I know that using lens pads is relatively better, but it has been in use for a year and a half now; changing it would delay production, and there are doubts about the feasibility from that perspective
Thank you for your suggestion. We do use heat tightening after each drive, but it’s not entirely ideal. The last time we used it, after stopping for maintenance at the end of September 2007, there was no leakage after tightening; however, it’s hard to say whether there will be any leakage during future maintenance or when the catalyst is replaced. To be honest, I’m too scared, which is why I wanted to ask everyone for any other good methods
Does your small cover have a cold shock port? If so, it is because the application of cold shock causes uneven thermal expansion and contraction around the small cover, leading to leakage. If you reduce the use of cold shocks, there will be no leaks.
