Management model for chemical engineering projects

Common management models include: 1. The conventional management model, in which the project owner takes full responsibility for management. This approach stems from the planned economy system, and many projects still use this model today. Under normal circumstances, the recommending entity establishes a command center to oversee the project construction, with departments for procurement, technology, construction, and general affairs under this command center. The design and supervision agencies, as well as the civil engineering and installation contractors, are determined through bidding. This model is mainly used by companies with strong capabilities and extensive experience in project construction management. 2. The turnkey project contracting model is a construction approach that has seen significant development in recent years and is **actively promoted and advocated**. It encompasses three aspects: design (E), construction (P), and commissioning (C), and can be classified into EPC, EP, etc., depending on the scope of the tasks assigned. Currently, there are two main types of engineering companies that possess the qualifications for general project contracting: design institutes and installation engineering companies. Under this project management model, the project owner only needs to assign a few staff members to supervise and coordinate the work of the general contractor, which saves a great deal of manpower and effort; it is currently the commonly used project management approach in China. 3. The entrusted project management model refers to a company engaged in project management (hereinafter referred to as a project management company) that, upon commission from the client, carries out management and services for the entire process or certain phases of the project’s implementation on behalf of the client, in accordance with the terms of the contract. This model further includes two forms: Project Management Services (PM) and Project Management Contracting (PMC). The specific model to be used for project construction is determined by the enterprise based on the particular circumstances of the project; there is no fixed model.

Regarding the EPC management model, I believe the key lies in the project capabilities and management experience of the general contractor. Professional competence is extremely important here; at the same time, communication and coordination must be governed by established rules, with standards being established would be ideal. In simple terms, under the existing domestic system, it is not necessary to hold anyone fully accountable; what matters is to focus on professional management skills, strive to improve various management systems, and enforce them through the authority of the owner. No other requirements matter as much. Generally speaking, adopting the EPC management model is beneficial for the owner. As for managers~~ hehe, I’ll not say anything.

The project in question adopts a method similar to EPC. But this type of EPC is quite good for the owner. As long as money is paid, any other problems will be referred to you, and you’re expected to get involved in great detail. At the same time, you can’t decide on the costs; you have to follow what the owner decides. At the same time, the owners are not familiar with the profession, which is very annoying. Annoying.
