Our centrifugal pumps don’t stop operating, not even 24 hours a day – as long as the pump is not damaged, it keeps running, unless there is a problem with the pump itself. Generally, it needs to be activated at least once, with no interruption for half a year. It only stops for 1–2 days during major overhauls when the pumps are routinely maintained; basically, it operates for over 350 days per year.
It’s supposed to run for a long time!
1# is right – centrifugal pumps basically run non-stop. Chemical plants operate on a continuous basis for long periods of time; if the pumps had to be turned on and off constantly, how could production proceed?
One in use and one as backup; it is advisable to swap them every six months for inspection.
It must run for a long time, as chemical production plants operate continuously once they are started up (except during annual maintenance periods or in case of abnormal situations); in such factories, one unit is usually in operation while another is on standby.
