For pressurizing a three-in-one furnace, nitrogen is the best choice; instrument air can also be used. Whether using nitrogen or instrument air, nitrogen should be used for purging during furnace startup, and samples should be taken for analysis; ignition can only be carried out once the results are satisfactory.

Nitrogen purging is carried out to displace the residual oxygen in the furnace; if the oxygen content is high, hydrogen will react violently with oxygen when igniting the furnace, leading to an explosion. Therefore, nitrogen must be used for purging and displacement before ignition, and ignition can only be performed once the conditions are satisfactory
In practice, ordinary factories use air for purging. There are mainly a few points to consider: 1. How is the furnace started in your plant – is hydrogen ignited outside the furnace before it is introduced, or is electronic ignition used inside the furnace? 2. Nitrogen is generally not used because it does not support combustion; if the nitrogen concentration inside the furnace is high after hydrogen is ignited, it can easily cause the flame to go out. 3. Currently, most factories first burn hydrogen in air and then switch to chlorine. Therefore, using nitrogen is not very suitable. 4. The purging before lighting the furnace is not intended to remove air, but rather to eliminate hydrogen, preventing it from accumulating inside the furnace and causing an explosion. Replacing with nitrogen is too wasteful and not necessary.
