Can a simple alumni directory be created here? To make it easier for alumni of a school to get in touch? I think many of them are from the same school, but they don’t know each other and don’t have their contact information. It would be great to be able to get in touch with alumni or classmates through the forum! Please have the moderators consider it; let’s all discuss it!
An alumni directory might help to bring students from the same school closer together, but on the other hand it could lead to unhealthy group formations. After all, forums are inherently virtual in nature, which facilitates communication among people; being too realistic isn’t necessarily advantageous. There are advantages and disadvantages to it. In fact, as long as people treat each other sincerely in a forum, it’s possible to build closer relationships and even become friends, whether or not there is an alumni directory.
Technical forums should not deviate from their original purpose; alumni directories are better left on dedicated web pages, so as not to place an extra burden on the servers.
