Select appropriate exterior coatings for oil tanks to reduce their heat absorption from light. 3. Internal floating roofs combined with nitrogen sealing are commonly used. 4. Recover oil and gas from internal floating roof tanks and dome tanks. 5. Arrange oil transfer and material receipt/shipment operations in a reasonable manner: Transfer operations should be carried out at night when temperatures are lower, while oil shipment operations should be done during the day when temperatures are higher.

During the day, when temperatures are high, oil is loaded into the tank; at night, oil is unloaded from the tank. Storage tanks equipped with internal floating balls and nitrogen sealing are used. Loading is carried out during the day when temperatures are high, to avoid doing so at night when temperatures are lower. The tank features a double-layer seal, and in winter, the tank is heated to maintain an appropriate temperature
I believe the optimal time for loading and unloading oil tanks is not simply determined by day or night; operations should be carried out based on the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the tanks.
After reading the posts above, I see that everyone has a different opinion. Personally, I think that large and small breaths should be avoided as much as possible when performing oil transfer operations in high-temperature environments or when there are large temperature differences. It’s also necessary to avoid rapid air flow inside the tank. Another issue worth discussing is this: I remember my teacher saying that he wasn’t in favor of carrying out spraying operations to cool the oil tanks at noon. The reason was that during those hours, the temperature drops, resulting in different pressures inside and outside the tank, which increases air flow inside the tank and creates negative pressure – essentially a process of large and small breaths – so such operations aren’t advisable.
