May I ask what the maximum capacity of current pressure swing adsorption nitrogen production units is, and which company manufactures them? Approximately how much investment is required, and what are the advantages compared to cryogenic methods?
It can achieve around 99.5%; the investment required is less than that for cryogenic methods, but the purity is not as high as that of cryogenic processes (99.9%)! ! !
The purity should generally meet the requirements of current processes, and the cost of pressure swing adsorption is lower than that of cryogenic technology. Pressure swing adsorption is a technology of which China can be proud!
Below 1500 mbar, it has a cost advantage over cryogenic separation; above 1500, it no longer has any advantage. The product purity can meet the requirements. If the factory still needs oxygen, cryogenic separation is the best option

I’m not sure when this data was collected; currently, pressure swing adsorption can achieve oxygen production rates of 6k, 8k, or even 10,000 cubic meters per hour, and the costs associated with deep cooling are relatively lower
However, as the capacity increases, the purity of the product decreases
What I mean is based on pure oxygen
At present, the output of oxygen produced by pressure swing adsorption can reach over 10,000 units, but the theoretical maximum purity is only 95%, with typical values around 90%. Compared with the deep cryogenic method, the greatest advantage of pressure swing adsorption is its short startup time, flexible operation, and the ability to adjust the product purity within a certain range. However, when the production volume exceeds 5,000, the equipment investment becomes quite similar to that of the cryogenic method, and there is no significant advantage in terms of energy consumption. Therefore, pressure swing adsorption is generally only suitable for small to medium-scale systems with low purity requirements. For devices with high yield and high purity, cryogenic methods are the best choice.
In China, the output per unit of pressure swing adsorption nitrogen production equipment is below 3,000 cubic meters, with a purity of around 99.5%; the investment in such equipment exceeds 10 million yuan. To obtain nitrogen of higher purity, additional purification units are required, which increases the costs further.
