When the storage tank is large, it can cause slight settlement of the foundation during use. To protect the inlet and outlet pipes as well as the valves located at the bottom of the tank, metal hoses are sometimes necessary. So, at what volume does a storage tank require such measures? :)
There is no absolute rule for this; generally, hoses are installed at the inlets and outlets of larger storage tanks, such as those with a capacity of over 2,000 cubic meters. What’s important is to conduct settlement calculations to determine the impact on the pipelines.
It can also be determined from the basic structure; if the foundation is a fully concrete structure, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. The tank is small. 2. The foundation settlement is not significant either
Generally, the tank foundation is over 100 mm, and metal hoses are considered for the tank’s inlet and outlet.
