The acceptance meeting for the Guangdong Province Biomass Energy Engineering Technology Research and Development Center was held at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy. On December 20th, the acceptance meeting took place at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy; four officials and experts attended it, including Chen Rongbiao from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Chen Weilin from the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Zhou Jipei from the Guangdong Provincial Economic and Trade Commission, and Chen Shigao from the Guangdong Provincial Evaluation Center. Those who also participated in the meeting included Chen Churong, the person in charge of the project, Ma Longlong, the deputy director and researcher, as well as other leaders and research staff associated with the engineering center. The acceptance meeting was chaired by Researcher Chen Rongbiao from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Ma Longlong presented a report on the progress of the construction of the engineering center, while the acceptance team inspected the center’s analysis and testing facilities, laboratories, as well as the company responsible for the commercialization of research results, posing questions and addressing concerns. The Guangdong Province Biomass Energy Engineering Technology Research and Development Center was established in May 2004. The center comprises 4 laboratories and 2 technology integration companies, which are responsible for carrying out technical research as well as the promotion and application of such technologies. The engineering center has a total of 40 researchers and 38 postgraduate students, as well as over 150 engineering and technical personnel responsible for the promotion and application of projects. Since the establishment of the engineering center, a total of 109 papers have been published, including 34 journal articles and 17 conference papers ； 23 patent applications were filed (including 18 invention patents). Won 9 various awards. After its establishment, the center completed 25 projects that had been pursued prior to its founding; by the end of 2006, another 69 projects of various types were secured. During the construction period of the engineering center, significant progress was made in research on biomass energy. Using Zhongke Huayuan Technology Co., Ltd. as a platform for promoting biomass power generation technologies, 7 biomass gasification power generation projects were completed. Meanwhile, the preliminary planning and approval procedures for 4 biomass gasification power generation demonstration projects were carried out; the total installed capacity of these projects is 13.3 MW ； Using Zhongke Tianyuan Renewable Resources Engineering Co., Ltd. as a platform for promoting projects related to the production of fuel ethanol from biomass, the company has become a leading provider of fuel ethanol technology services, equipment supply, and value-added services in China. It boasts a comprehensive technical service system for producing ethanol from various raw materials, and has ranked first in China’s market for ethanol technology and services for three consecutive years. The acceptance team gave high praise to the construction of the engineering center, suggesting that further efforts should be made to develop it so that it can become a **-level engineering center as soon as possible. In future work, cooperation with large, key energy enterprises in Guangdong Province should be strengthened to further promote the transfer of achievements
