The light fractions of coal tar are refined using acid-base or adsorption methods, and then blended with ordinary heavy diesel or fuel oil. An appropriate amount of methanol can also be added to increase the total yield of light oil. Coal tar pitch is blended with conventional road asphalt. 3. Light fractions or the entire fraction stream can be hydrogenated to produce high-quality gasoline and diesel blending components or high-quality fuel oils, which can then be used to blend coal tar pitch into heavy fuel oils.
