Xinhua Net, Zhengzhou, December 30 (Reporter: Shan Chungang) The reporter learned from the Pingdingshan Municipal Party Committee in Henan Province that at around 9 a.m. on the 29th, a gas poisoning incident occurred in the Sipo residential area of Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd.; 11 people were found to have been poisoned, 6 of whom died, while the other 5 are no longer in critical condition. Preliminary investigations reveal that during the conversion of gas to natural gas in the Sipo residential area of Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., a lack of timely notification led to gas leakage in the pipelines, resulting in poisoning of some people. Following the incident, Pingdingshan City, Wugang City, and Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. attached great importance to it and promptly established a joint task force for emergency response and investigation. Urgent measures were taken to conduct house-by-house inspections of all residents in the residential area, while those who were poisoned were rushed to the employee hospital of Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. for thorough treatment.
