Seals can be divided into two main categories: static seals and dynamic seals. Static seals mainly fall into three categories: gasket seals, sealant seals, and direct contact seals. Based on working pressure, static seals can be further divided into medium and low-pressure static seals and high-pressure static seals. For medium and low-pressure static seals, gasket seals made of softer materials with a wider width are commonly used, while for high-pressure static seals, metal gaskets made of harder materials with a very narrow contact width are employed. Dynamic seals can be divided into two basic types: rotary seals and reciprocating seals. Based on whether the seal is in contact with the components that move relative to it, seals can be divided into contact seals and non-contact seals ; Based on the seal and contact position, they can be further divided into circumferential sealing and face sealing; face sealing is also known as mechanical sealing. Centrifugal seals and spiral seals, which are part of dynamic seals, achieve sealing by applying force to the medium as the machine operates; hence they are sometimes referred to as power seals.
