The chlorine liquid submersible pump in our factory often fails to deliver liquid or generate pressure; we’re very concerned. Please ask experienced engineers to provide some guidance. 1. As the original poster mentioned, there are likely debris inside the submersible pump, which prevents it from transporting liquid chlorine; 2. During the production of liquid chlorine, the presence of water in chlorine can cause corrosion of carbon steel equipment, leading to the formation of rust sludge ; 3. Has the impeller of the submersible pump fallen off? 4. Check the current of the submersible pump and whether there are any abnormal noises.
Is the vacuum suction height not sufficient? Let’s do the calculations.

Based on my experience, 1) the minimum flow rate is too low, which causes a gas seal to form due to the pressure generated by the submersible pump; it is recommended to shut down the pump, restart it, and then use a bypass to adjust the flow rate – this will increase the outlet pressure. 2. The liquid level in the internal intermediate tank is too low, which generates gas and prevents the liquid from being pumped out; it is recommended to add more liquid chlorine.
Please indicate whether the liquid does not flow at all, or if it flows intermittently. If liquid does not flow at all and the unit is new, check: 1. Whether the direction is correct. 2. Current conditions, and whether there is a slightly heavier feeling when turning the disk. 3. If the current is very low, please check the pump shaft (I have encountered this issue). If liquid supply is intermittent, it is recommended to check the level in the intermediate tank (which should be maintained above 50%) and the temperature of the pump shaft.
From your description, it seems to be working well at times and poorly at others; could it be that the liquid level is too low, causing the pump to draw in air and thus fail to deliver sufficient flow? Or acidic sludge blocks the flow channels, resulting in no output.
Liquid chlorine contains a high amount of water, and the gas-liquid equilibrium tube in the submersible pump became corroded and punctured, resulting in unstable pressure and an inability to pump the liquid.
The senior on the 6th floor analyzed it very thoroughly; based on what the original poster described, the most likely reason is that the liquid level in the intermediate tank is low
Check the following: 1. With no pressure applied or no liquid flowing, check the motor current level; if it is normal, then check whether there are any problems with the liquid outlet pipe (it is possible that there is a puncture in the pipe located in the middle tank, causing liquid chlorine to leak back into that tank); 2. Check the liquid level in the liquid chlorine intermediate tank to determine if there is a false level 3. The acid sludge at the bottom of the intermediate tank is severe, resulting in poor liquid intake by the submersible pump! 4. Check the pump shaft of the submersible pump to see if there is wear or other issues!
Generally, after 200 hours of operation, the pressure of the liquid injection pump decreases. I suspect it’s the acidic mud; I’m not sure though
