08Cr2AlMo is a new type of seamless steel tube designed specifically for use in heat exchangers. It possesses high resistance to stress corrosion cracking in H2S-H2O and H2S-HCl-H2O environments, as well as resistance to sulfur corrosion at high temperatures and corrosion by dilute organic acids. It was developed on the basis of 12Cr2AlMoV. The corrosion-resistant elements Cr, Al, and Mo are retained in terms of chemical composition; the carbon content in the steel is reduced, while the V content is eliminated. This approach maintains corrosion resistance while ensuring that the hardness of the steel pipe matches that of the 16Mn forgings commonly used in oil refining equipment, thus guaranteeing good expansion joint performance. This steel grade was subjected to H2S stress corrosion tests, HCl aqueous solution corrosion tests, and water quality corrosion tests. The test results showed that its corrosion resistance is significantly superior to that of commonly used piping materials.
