In industrial production, substances harmful to the human body are known as occupational toxins or industrial poisons. Toxins appear in various forms during the production process, and the same chemical substance can take different forms in different production processes. The sources of toxins mainly include the following aspects: (1) Raw materials for production, such as lead oxide used in the manufacture of pigments and batteries, and benzene used in the production of synthetic fibers and as a fuel ; (2) Intermediate products, such as those produced when aniline is manufactured from benzene and nitric acid*** ; (3) Finished products, such as various pesticides produced by pesticide factories ; (4) Auxiliary materials, such as rubber, benzene, and gasoline used as solvents in the printing industry ; (5) By-products and waste, such as coal tar and asphalt produced during coking, and sulfur dioxide generated during metal smelting ; (6) Inclusions, such as impurities mixed in sulfuric acid. Productive toxins often exist in the form of gases, vapors, dusts, fumes, and mists during the production process, thereby contaminating the air environment. Substances that are gaseous at room temperature, such as hydrogen chloride, hydrogen cyanide, sulfur dioxide, and chlorine, pollute the air in gaseous form. Some substances with low boiling points contaminate the air in vapor form, such as benzene, gasoline, and ethyl acetate used in painting operations. Fog generated during pesticide spraying, paint spraying, electroplating with chromic acid, acid washing with sulfuric acid, and so on, pollutes the air in the form of fog. Understanding the forms in which toxic substances exist is of great significance for knowing the ways in which these toxins enter the human body, formulating preventive and control measures, as well as collecting air samples to determine toxin concentrations.
