Recently, there was a leakage issue with the gasket at the connection between the upper flange and the reactor vessel. Due to tight production schedules, leak sealing was carried out under pressure to keep production running. If the gasket needs to be replaced, several pipelines on the tank must be removed, which is a very time-consuming process. But in the end, the gasket still needs to be replaced. If it’s not possible to achieve a tight fit, it is recommended to install disc springs, as these can help compensate for changes in pressure and temperature and thus maintain the proper bolt tension. If a tight fit cannot be achieved, then you’ll have to use the pressure-sealing method you mentioned; otherwise, replace the gasket. If winding gaskets are used, they generally manage to hold things in place as long as they aren’t damaged by pressure. I’ve previously used disc springs on 1800mm flanges; leaks occurred there as well due to fluctuations in temperature and pressure, but the pressure wasn’t high—only 0.3 MPa. After a day of leakage, I installed disc springs and tightened everything, and since then there have been no more leaks; it’s been over three years now.
