Currently, some small nitrogen fertilizer plants in China use a two-tower in-series process for ammonia synthesis. Let’s take a look at which ones are under construction and which ones are operating well. This post was last edited by tangmudier on 2008-1-5 11:48.]
Shandong Asde has adopted this technology, and it is said that the ammonia net value can be increased by 4%.
The ammonia synthesis unit at Liaoning Jintianhua uses the Brown process from the United States, featuring three synthesis towers connected in series, and it operates with good efficiency.
Is there a separation step between two-tower series connection and three-tower series connection?
Are there any relevant materials I can look at to learn about it? It’s my first time hearing about this as well
At Jianfeng Chemical, three towers are connected in series in an insulated manner; at Daqing Petrochemical Fertilizer Plant, two towers are connected in series. In this series configuration, the ammonia purity is high and the pressure difference is large. Whether to use a series or parallel arrangement depends on a comprehensive consideration of the process requirements.
“The “tower stringing process” is employed at Shandong Ruixing Chemical Co., Ltd., Shandong Feicheng Fertilizer Factory, and Jiangsu Jiangyan Fertilizer Factory; The application at Feicheng Fertilizer Plant is as follows: this process was also used in the expansion and renovation project for ammonia synthesis with DN1600 pipelines. After its implementation, the ammonia synthesis capacity increased by another 40,000 tons per year, reaching 180,000 tons per year; the operating pressure for synthesis was ≤26 MPa. This project came online in June 2007. The application of Shandong Ruixing is as follows: This process (referred to as the tandem tower process) was adopted for the capacity enhancement upgrade of the Φ1800 ammonia synthesis system. Since its operation began on April 8 this year, it has enabled stable, high-output, and low-consumption operation. The GC-type Φ1800 full-radial synthesis tower integrated into the system can produce 206 tons of ammonia per day; production volume increased by 37.8% without an increase in energy consumption, while the power consumption per ton of ammonia for the circulator and chillers decreased by 30%. The integrated GC-type Φ1800 full-radial synthesis tower now has an annual ammonia production capacity of 60,000 to 70,000 tons, while the original system’s daily ammonia production increased from 545 tons to 751 tons.
May I ask if the reduction operation can be carried out with two or three towers connected in series?
