In the past two days, the exit temperature at layer 1 has risen to 603°C, with a gas concentration of 8.1%. The inlet temperature at layer 1 is 405°C; there are no significant changes in other aspects, and the operating conditions remain unchanged. What could be the cause of this? It is an acid production unit made from what materials; it is recommended to analyze the gas concentration and calibrate the instruments.
For acid production from sulfur concentrate, the gas concentration has been verified as accurate; now I suspect it’s an issue with the instruments, as there are no qualified instrument technicians available to verify them.
Then it must be a problem with the instrument. At 603 degrees, the equilibrium conversion rate for 8.1% gas concentration is only around 72%, while at the aforementioned temperature the conversion rate reaches around 87%. This is impossible.
I also agree with the opinion of the poster on floor 4; using the thermal insulation coefficient allows us to calculate the reaction temperature T and the conversion rate!
To resolve the issue, it was indeed a problem with the instruments. After checking them, under the same conditions of high gas concentration, the inlet temperature was 420°C while the outlet temperature was 585°C. It is clear that the instruments serve as the eyes of production, and their accuracy has a direct impact on manufacturing processes.
Sometimes, problems with instruments can be fatal.
