I’m glad to see my colleagues; I am also engaged in research on the application of adsorption and exchange resins. In China, I have participated in over 30 large-scale application projects, and I have developed more than 20 research projects. Adsorption and exchange resins have indeed achieved excellent results in certain fields, but at present, there are still some shortcomings. First, the water quality requirements are quite high. Pre-treatment of wastewater is quite important; otherwise, after being used for a period of time, the resin is likely to become poisoned and lose or reduce its effectiveness. Second, desorption conditions. Currently, the desorption methods used for resins in applications are mainly acid/base/solvent-based desorption. In the field of wastewater applications, organic solvents can basically be ruled out, as using organic solvents for regeneration leads to increased losses due to resin residues and water dissolution, thereby raising operating costs. Moreover, residual solvents in water cause an increase in CODcr, imposing a burden on subsequent treatment processes. Third, and so on.
