I’m not quite sure what raw water is… Is it chilled water? It comes from the carbon scrubbing tower, right? At the original point, it’s the deoxygenated water that enters the carbon scrubbing tower from the deoxygenator
The analysis data below are taken from the Texaco gasification process package of a factory in Anhui; no specific requirements are specified for CL ions in this process package, for reference only: Raw water (RW) – Total alkalinity: 225 mg/L; Total hardness: 190 mg/L; Suspended solids: 20 mg/L; Oxygen consumption: 72.0 mg/L; Chlorides: 35.5 mg/L; Total iron content: 0.8 mg/L
Theoretically, the lower the value, the better, as in order to maintain chloride balance within the system, most of the chloride ions introduced from the raw coal and raw water must be removed from the wastewater and discharged outside the gasification unit. The higher the chloride content in the raw water, the greater the amount of wastewater that needs to be discharged; otherwise, it will lead to an increase in the chloride concentration in the ash water system. However, the chloride content is closely related to the water source; there is no need to impose restrictions on it, nor is it necessary to make special investments to bring the chloride level in the raw water to a specific value.
To prevent the device from corroding, is there a limit standard for the Cl ion concentration? The chloride levels in the water source location where our current project is situated are on the high side; therefore, this issue was raised in the feasibility study. How should it be resolved?
The chloride ion concentration in the ash water within the gasification unit is usually in the range of several hundred ppm. If the CL concentration in your raw water is in the tens of ppm, it is still much lower than that of the ash water; therefore, the ash water can be used. What’s there that can’t be utilized with such raw water? It is only necessary to consider increasing the amount of wastewater discharged in order to maintain the CL concentration within the system. Additionally, there are usually certain requirements regarding the CL content in the cooling water, especially for certain stainless steel heat exchangers; this is something you should pay attention to.
A high CL- content in the raw water inevitably leads to a high content in the gray water, resulting in large amounts of wastewater being discharged. This is mainly because gray water is recycled within the system, and high levels of CL- can cause severe corrosion of stainless steel; therefore, it is generally required that the CL- content in gray water be below 350 PPm, with a maximum level generally not exceeding 500 PPm.
