For a project, wafer-type disc valves are generally used for circulating water. Due to the low pressure involved, plate-type butt-welded flanges are employed. During the pressure testing phase, it was found that a proper seal could not be achieved; the flanges of the wafer-type disc valves did not match the graphite rubber gaskets. As a result, it was necessary to replace them all with necked butt-welded flanges. Everyone should be careful about this detail when using wafer-type disc valves in the future!
