Welds of types A, B, C, and D are all under compressive stress; in China, they are classified based on the level of risk. The weld mentioned by the original poster is not a compression weld, so it cannot be classified under ABCD. However, since the welds are quite important, 4710 imposes requirements for non-destructive testing on them. Generally, similar welds that are not under compressive stress are commonly referred to as Class E welds. Also, please ask the original poster to learn the forum rules and post according to them.
Thank you. I have another question: in pressure vessel heat exchangers, there are some types with double tube sheets. I would like to ask whether the weld between the smaller tube sheet that is connected to the cylinder and the cylinder itself can be classified as Category C or Category D
It is either a docking joint or Category C.
