Today, while reviewing the design documents for the new equipment, I came across a statement regarding the interlock function of the feed water pump: when the new hydrogen generator stops, the feed water pump should be stopped manually. I’m not sure what the reasoning behind this is; please help analyze it!
There’s no need, right? Generally, it is recommended to stop the water supply only when the reaction temperature drops below 260 degrees; otherwise, it is advised to maintain the water injection rate before this temperature in order to ensure long-term operation of the high-pressure air cooling system. Generally, foreign clients will have such requirements for the process package; you can discuss this with them.
The new hydrogen may be reforming hydrogen, containing a large amount of chloride ions; this facilitates the formation and precipitation of ammonium salts. When the new hydrogen generator stops operating, the amount of chloride ions decreases, which reduces the formation of ammonium salts, and it becomes possible to stop adding water. This is just my humble opinion
1. The reforming hydrogen must be dechlorinated before being fed into the hydrogenation unit, with the chlorine content to be less than 1 ppm. 2. There is no logical relationship between the shutdown of the new hydrogen generator in our hydrocracking unit and the shutdown of the feed water pump; in my opinion, it is also unnecessary.
It is recommended to communicate with the process package provider to see if there are any new ideas.
