Recently, the project \"Development of a new generation of catalytic cracking catalysts for increasing propylene production\", carried out jointly by SINOPEC’s Research Institute of Petrochemistry, Anqing Branch, and Qilu Branch for catalysts, passed the technical evaluation organized by SINOPEC’s Science and Technology Development Department. Vice President Nie Hong of the Institute of Petrology, Deputy Chief Engineer Zhang Jiushun, members of the research team, as well as representatives from more than a dozen units including Anqing Branch and Catalyst Branch attended the appraisal meeting. After careful evaluation, the experts present unanimously agreed that by utilizing a new formula of active components and advanced catalyst technologies, along with ZSP-3 selective molecular sieves featuring excellent crystal structure and high activity stability, and by introducing β molecular sieves for the first time, the OCK catalyst preparation technique was developed. This approach enabled the optimization and matching of active and structural components, improved the accessibility of catalyst activity centers to different molecules, and a new molding process was created, resulting in high-quality catalysts. The catalyst DMMC-1, designed specifically for the new DCC process, boasts a high capacity for converting heavy oil and a high yield of propylene; the performance of the products as well as all relevant parameters meet the required standards. The use of the independently developed OCK catalyst preparation technology to incorporate β-molecular sieve into the cracking agent as an active component has not been reported in any industrial applications worldwide, which constitutes an innovation; the catalyst technology is at an internationally advanced level.
