It is understood that the fourth generation of Lurgi gasifiers has not been strictly classified; rather, some ultra-high pressure gasifiers were developed after the third generation. When it comes to third-generation gasifiers, the manufacturers for which conversion calculations are carried out mainly include the following: Yunnan Jiehua has over 10 such gasifiers, some of which have been converted to BGL type; Shanxi Fertilizer Factory (Tianji) has 4 such gasifiers; Henan Yima Gasification Plant has 5; Lanzhou Gas Factory has 5; and Harbin Gas Factory also has 5. Generally, a gasifier with a diameter of 3.6 meters can produce 35,000 to 36,000 standard cubic meters of gas per hour.
What is the operating pressure of these ultra-high-pressure Ruhr gasifiers?
The structural difference between the two is that BGL is used for liquid slag detection, while LURGI is used for solid slag detection. The upper part of the furnace remains basically the same; only the structure below the furnace has been improved, with the slag pool and the intermittent liquid discharge port being redesigned. Improvements have been made at the connection between the lower part of the furnace and the slag outlet to ensure smooth inspections. BGL has eliminated the traditional grate inside the furnace; since it is a liquid-based system, there is no need for rotation to prevent blockages. In terms of performance, it is said that BGL is definitely superior, with all its metrics being better than those of LURGI; however, there are no specific figures available, as it is only the subject of theoretical research. There is very little information available on the performance of BGL units, and some manufacturers keep this information confidential, so it isn’t very convincing.
