Directly using a pressure swing adsorption unit to separate methane from coke oven gas will inevitably result in the simultaneous adsorption of carbon dioxide, causing the liquefied natural gas not to meet the required standards. If coke oven gas is to be used to produce natural gas, it is first necessary to carry out a methanation reaction to convert most of the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the coke oven gas into methane using hydrogen, and then separate the methane using pressure swing adsorption units to produce liquefied natural gas. If methanation is not desired, carbon dioxide must first be removed from the coke oven gas, and then methane must be separated from it using a pressure swing adsorption unit.
