In the purification of brine, many manufacturers employ air flotation technology, and the release valve is one of the key components in this process. Due to the corrosive nature of brine and the free chlorine it contains, valves lined with fluoropolymer are usually chosen. The following issues will be discussed; everyone is welcome to participate: 1. Type of valve: Based on the principle of release, globe valves are the best choice, but as far as I know, some manufacturers use diaphragm valves while others opt for ordinary carbon steel globe valves. What is the difference in their performance under similar brine conditions? 2. Service life of valves: What is the service life for different types of valves? Our unit uses steel-lined PTFE stop valves, and it has been found that their lifespan is not long – usually about half a year. The damaged part is the PTFE lining behind the valve; the symptom of this issue is that the valve’s opening gradually increases, the flow rate becomes unstable, and it cannot be controlled properly, although the valve actuator functions normally. Our approach is to stop the machine for replacement, and to re-line the damaged valve with fluoropolymer. At present, the scale of chlor-alkali manufacturers using the air flotation process should exceed 5 million tons. We welcome colleagues to join the discussion and share their experiences. # , , &
We use ordinary carbon steel stop valves, mainly because we are concerned that after being exposed to temperature changes over time, the lining material and the main body material of fluorine-lined valves may separate from each other. We are using carbon steel gate valves; it’s been two years now and they still haven’t been replaced

Given that the delivery pressure in the brine system is not high, a molded perfluorinated stop valve can be considered
