The desulfurizing agent in the desulfurization tower of our PSA system has been in use for a year, and it’s time to replace it now. But when it was opened, it turned out to have formed a clump; the entire tower was packed full. Like a single piece of stone. It’s not easy to get it out – does anyone have any good ideas? ?
Should we consider using steam to blow it first? This should be able to alleviate coking
But it was only after opening it that I realized. There are no steam pipelines designed either; without being separated from the upstream and downstream systems, moisture is not allowed to be present under normal conditions!

Be careful when removing the desulfurizer; it is best to wear a gas mask and carry out the operation under nitrogen purging. If the caking of the desulfurization agent is severe, indeed the approach mentioned by the brother above is the only option left.
With the manhole frame ventilator, it is quite laborious to clear the lumps by hand, and safety must be taken into account!
Thank you all for your participation. Indeed, we later used a wind drill used in construction work to break up the desulfurizer and remove it. However, later on, during further inspections, we found a better method. If anyone is interested, please think about it first; I’ll share it with you later! !
