Hydrocracking tail oil can serve as a high-quality feedstock for ethylene cracking, but its aniline point must not be too high. What causes a high aniline point? How should it be adjusted?
The aniline point is the lowest temperature at which equal volumes of petroleum alkanes and aniline are mutually soluble, and it is used to indicate the content of saturated hydrocarbons in the alkane series. The aniline point is related to the chemical composition; the higher the aniline point, the greater the content of alkanes ； The lower the aniline point, the higher the aromatic content. Hydrocracking tail oil contains a high amount of alkanes, which gives it a high aniline point and makes it suitable as feedstock for ethylene cracking. As for the restriction on aniline dots, I don’t quite understand it. Logically, the higher the alkane content in the ethylene cracking feed, the greater the ethylene yield.
In fact, the level of the aniline point follows the principle of like dissolves like: a higher content of alkanes results in a higher aniline point, while a higher content of aromatics leads to a lower aniline point. As a raw material for ethylene cracking, there is no reason to impose a limit on the maximum aniline point.
