IV. Introduction to the Department of Chemical Engineering Machinery and Control at Sichuan University. Sichuan University (formerly Chengdu Institute of Technology → Chengdu University of Science and Technology → Sichuan United University) established a program in chemical engineering machinery in 1952; Professor Zhang Hongyuan, a renowned expert in chemical engineering education in China, served as the first head of the department’s teaching and research team. The program began admitting junior college students that same year, and undergraduate students were admitted starting in 1954. In 1959, the Department of Chemical Engineering Machinery was established, with two specializations: Chemical Engineering Machinery and Automation of Chemical Engineering Instruments. It was incorporated into the Department of Basic Chemical Engineering in 1961, and the Department of Chemical Engineering Machinery was re-established in 1993. In 1998, in line with the adjustment of undergraduate programs, the Department of Chemical Engineering Machinery was renamed the Department of Chemical Engineering Machinery and Control Engineering, which offered the major in Process Equipment and Control Engineering; in 2001, a new major in Safety Engineering was added. The Chemical Engineering and Machinery program was granted the right to confer master’s degrees in \"Chemical Process Machinery\" in 1983, and the right to confer doctoral degrees in 1993. The department currently has 34 faculty members, including 10 professors (3 of whom are doctoral supervisors) and 12 associate professors. Over half of the faculty hold master’s or doctoral degrees, and one-third have experience studying or completing further training abroad. Current enrollment scale: 140 undergraduates per year for the major in Process Equipment and Control Engineering; 5 doctoral students per year in Chemical Process Machinery, and 10–15 master’s students per year. Master of Engineering degrees in the field of Power Engineering (Chemical Machinery) are also offered. It has 3 teaching and research sections namely \"Process Equipment\", \"Safety Engineering\", and \"Process Control\", one professional teaching laboratory, an Institute of Chemical Machinery, and the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of \"Filtration and Separation\". Over the past forty years, the chemical engineering machinery program has trained more than 3,400 undergraduates, over 120 master’s students, and more than 10 doctoral students. Over the past 5 years, I have undertaken 11 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, more than 20 projects under the “8th Five-Year Plan” and “9th Five-Year Plan” initiatives as well as at the departmental and provincial levels, and over 30 projects resulting from horizontal collaborations ; Won 3 **-level awards and 6 departmental/provincial-level awards ; He has published over 200 papers on teaching and research, as well as more than 10 textbooks and monographs. In response to the needs of national economic development and the progress of academic disciplines, several stable research areas have been established (see table below), and stable academic exchange and research cooperation relationships have been forged with universities in countries such as Japan, Canada, and Germany. Over the next 3 years, with the completion of Sichuan University’s \"Shuangliu\" campus, as well as the implementation of the \"523 Laboratory Project\" and the \"214 Talent Project\", the teaching, research facilities, and academic staff in the field of chemical engineering machinery will reach a new level of development. Collaborate with domestic peer institutions as well as enterprises and organizations in areas such as talent training, academic exchanges, and scientific research, to jointly contribute to the development of the field of chemical engineering machinery in China and to the advancement of industry technology. Introduction to Graduate Admissions for the “Chemical Process Machinery” Program at Sichuan University – Key Research Areas: Examination Subjects: Note: Filtration and separation processes and equipment; Membrane materials and bioreactor equipment; Enhancement of heat transfer processes and energy conservation; Gas-solid two-phase flow and drying technologies; Material surface engineering; Corrosion, wear, and life extension of process equipment; Development of efficient process equipment; Wastewater treatment processes and equipment; Fluid machinery and sealing technologies; Control technologies for process equipment. For doctoral programs: 1. Choose one from English, Japanese, or Russian; 2. Chemical mechanical mechanics, or engineering thermodynamics; 3. Chemical processes, or chemical equipment. Chemical mechanical mechanics primarily refers to fluid mechanics or mechanics of pressure vessel shells ; Chemical processes are primarily based on momentum and heat transfer ; Chemical engineering equipment mainly involves the structural analysis and calculation of vessels and heat exchangers. Master’s: 1. **(Science) 2. English 3. Mathematics I 4. Chemical Mechanical Mechanics, or Physical Chemistry 5. Pressure Vessels, or Principles of Chemical Engineering. Chemical Mechanical Mechanics primarily covers general mechanics of materials and hydrostatics ; The pressure vessels mainly cover the basic content of the first five chapters in Wang Zhiwen’s book \"Design of Chemical Engineering Vessels\".
