The packed tower was originally designed to be 10 meters tall, but since our factory already has an 18-meter tall packed tower available, we used that one instead. What impact will this have?
The direct issue is the high pressure drop, but other factors require clarification before a tower can provide an answer.
It may improve the separation capacity of the column, but this depends on the specific structure of the column, such as changes in the height of the distillation section and the stripping section.
What will happen if both the height of the stripping section and the rectifying section are increased? Will the performance improve, or will energy consumption become too high?
What impact will it have? Are there any specific data to illustrate this?
How many sections are there in the packing inside a 18-meter tower? What was the original design for the packing, what is the diameter of the tower, and what type of distributor is used? Generally, it depends on the pressure drop requirements of the process; if those requirements are high, the pressure drop increases
If the operating conditions remain unchanged, the quality will be higher.
It’s necessary to analyze each case on its own; the conditions provided by the original poster are too simplistic.
