One of the steam turbines in our facility has recently shown an increase in the primary back pressure. Normally, this pressure stays below 2 MPa, but it has been rising gradually, and now it has reached 2.8 MPa. Does anyone know what might be causing this increase in back pressure?
Poor steam quality increases the likelihood of salt buildup, which requires low-temperature flushing or major maintenance involving opening the equipment for inspection.

May I ask which manufacturer you are from, and what is the size of your unit? What is the power generation capacity when the exhaust pressure is high? Are there any other symptoms? It would be better if you could explain it in more detail.
First-stage backpressure? Is there also a second stage? Backpressure should be related to the system pressure – is the system pressure unstable?
I have a similar question I’d like to ask. Our turbine is a back-pressure type manufactured by Hangzhou Steam Turbine Co., with a designed inlet pressure of 3.5 MPa and an outlet pressure of 1.1 MPa; the actual inlet pressure is 3.2 MPa, and the outlet pressure at the second stage is 1.0 MPa. What should be the normal outlet pressure at the first stage (after the first control stage)? We don’t have any records of this value from previous operations of the unit, and we would like to analyze its performance.
