Small sulfuric acid plants with an annual production of less than 20,000 tons may fail to meet the requirements regarding flue gas purification and drying due to their equipment not meeting strict standards; as a result, there is some acidic sludge in the flue gas entering the heat exchanger. I would like to ask if there are any better ways to control this situation in order to reduce equipment corrosion. Our company’s setup includes: flue gas – boiling furnace – sedimentation tank – four cyclone dust collectors – sedimentation tank – two cyclones – Venturi tube – washing tower – electrostatic precipitator – drying tower – main fan – heat exchanger – converter – absorption tower. The drying tower is equipped with a double-layer drawer-type stainless steel wire mesh demister.
It is mainly due to the excessive amount of acid foam in the dry absorption tower. Stainless steel wire mesh demisters have low efficiency and need to be cleaned at regular intervals. Using a fiber mist eliminator is better, as it ensures high mist removal efficiency and improves the situation significantly.
A swirl demister is placed after the venturi, followed by an additional stage of electrostatic mist removal. The wire mesh mist eliminator has been replaced with a fiber mist eliminator. Haha, to achieve good results, you need to invest. After all, the investment per ton of acid for large-scale facilities is higher than that for smaller ones.
