Does anyone know how to convert volumetric flow rate from m3/h to mass flow rate in kg/h? ? Is there a more convenient way?
Volumetric flow rate multiplied by density under operating conditions = mass flow rate
Mass flow rate = Volume flow rate × Medium density
It’s very convenient to create an Excel table by yourself!

It is definitely necessary to know the density of the process medium first, before it is possible to determine the conversion relationship between volume flow rate and mass flow rate. Mass flow rate M = volume flow rate Q × density of the medium. Indeed, when there are many flow rate conversions, it is very convenient to use Excel’s powerful calculation functions. One column shows the density of the process medium, another column shows the volumetric flow rate or mass flow rate, and then another column contains the result of the calculation based on the first two columns; this way, when new calculations are needed, you simply need to enter your conditions. An empirical formula for reference: For example, steam with a mass flow rate of 6000 kg/h and a temperature of 160 degrees has a volume of 6000*22.4*(160+273)/18/273 = 11842.735 (m3/h)

The volumetric flow rate is generally expressed in NM3/H. It is possible to perform temperature and pressure compensation on the actually measured flow rate in a DCS system; for example, for nitrogen, KG/h = 22.4/NM3/H, meaning that 1 KG of nitrogen corresponds to 0.8 NM3
1 Pa·m3/h = 0.0428 kg/h, which is the conversion value for air at 20 degrees Celsius.
