High-speed pumps have two major disadvantages: 1. They require high-power, high-speed reduction gearboxes, and the manufacturing of gears for these gearbox systems demands very high standards. 2. The mechanical seals on the high-pressure side are prone to failure; such high speeds and high outlet pressures place extremely high demands on the manufacturing quality of these mechanical seals
