The pressure tank is equipped with 2 safety valves of the same size. There are two ways in which venting is arranged at the top: one pipe is cut at a 45-degree angle and points vertically upward, while the other pipe has a 90-degree elbow at its upper end. Why is this design chosen?
Hehe, I don’t think there’s any specific reason for it. It’s likely that when your system was built and safety valve vents were installed, they couldn’t find two 45-degree elbows, so they used a 90-degree elbow as a substitute. If you have enough authority, you can remove the 90-degree elbow and replace it with a 45-degree one. Personally, I think 45-degree vents are safer, as they won’t cause harm to people when the safety valve opens :handshake :lol :victory:

This is indeed not standard; it’s likely due to the reason mentioned on the 2nd floor. The original poster might want to check how the vent valves are arranged in their workshop or in other workshops – in most cases, the setup of those vent valves shouldn’t be similar to this one
The set pressures of the two safety valves are different, and when the equipment is overpressured, the valves open in a sequential order. The vent leads to the atmosphere, and the medium inside the container is ordinary. The direction should be chosen to avoid danger. Regardless of the arrangement, there should be a drain hole behind the valve seat to prevent liquid accumulation.
For personal safety, to prevent injury when the safety valve opens, and also to avoid fluid accumulation in the outlet pipe. A pipe cut at a 45-degree angle and pointing vertically upward was intended to be welded to a horizontal pipe; perhaps it was forgotten later on.

It must have been a mistake during construction. No issues were detected later; all angles should be 45 degrees, as an outlet at a 45-degree angle points diagonally upward. When the safety valve activates, the fluid is ejected in that diagonal upward direction, and the resistance is low, so it’s less likely to cause injuries to people.
