Application of fiber optic level gauges in oil tank measurement

Fiber optic level gauges have been available in China for several years now; what are people’s thoughts on this product? Have you been in contact with it or used it? What is its performance in practice?
During communication with the client, I learned a bit about this product: its measurement accuracy is acceptable; it works well for a single type of medium, but not when measuring two or more types of media. Additionally, installation is also quite convenient.
Fiber optic level gauges are not widely used at present. Their accuracy is similar to that of ultrasonic and radar level gauges, but their cost is relatively higher. Moreover, their installation is not as convenient as that of ultrasonic and radar level gauges, which is why they are not so widely utilized today.
I haven’t used it; the technology might not be fully developed yet.
Some manufacturers have come to discuss this, and I think it’s a good solution for addressing explosion-proofing issues; however, it’s currently used mostly in power plants and the petrochemical industry, with little use elsewhere.
The installation is troublesome – the tank has to be emptied first. The measurement accuracy is acceptable, and maintenance requirements are low. It’s worked well so far; however, the installation process is extremely difficult, with constant pouring and emptying of the tank!
