“The application of the \"direct recovery technology for high-oxygen gas from coal charging in rammed coke ovens\" has achieved zero emissions of waste gases in coke production. Waste gases and dust generated in coke production have always been a major challenge for the coking industry. In China’s coking industry, smoke and dust removal vehicles are commonly used during coke production; however, the raw gas and dust emitted by these vehicles during coal loading, as well as those released during combustion, still cause significant environmental pollution ; Moreover, the maintenance costs are high, and water and electricity are wasted; burning all the waste gas released during coal loading is also a significant waste. To address this challenge, the company invested 43 million yuan to mobilize its top scientific research talents for technical innovation. It redesigned and improved the traditional process of loading coal from the side of rammed coke ovens, and by combining the use of high-pressure ammonia spray with negative pressure technology in the charging pipes, it succeeded in directly recovering the high-oxygen waste gas that is generated during coal loading. This approach overcame the problem associated with high oxygen content in the waste gas emitted during side-loading of coal in rammed coke ovens, which previously prevented such gas from entering the collection pipelines. The high-oxygen gas generated during coal loading was now recovered and reused, replacing the need for smoke and dust removal vehicles; this reduced costs and **increased the recovery rate of products. Just this measure alone enables the recovery of 25.55 million cubic meters of gas per year, saves 560,000 cubic meters of water, and reduces electricity consumption by 12.62 million kilowatt-hours; it generates annual energy savings worth over 40 million yuan. From the perspective of smoke reduction during coal loading, it’s indeed good – there is no smoke. During coal loading, a smoke guide vehicle is used to direct the smoke to the next carbonization chamber to be unloaded (with one carbonization chamber in between), and high-pressure ammonia water is used to draw it into the gas collection pipe ; The large furnace opening has been changed to a water-sealing type; once the suction guide sleeve is lowered, it is sealed by the water seal. During the entire coal loading process, no smoke was emitted from the top of the furnace. During operation, it was necessary to switch between high-pressure and low-pressure ammonia solutions as well as to add water to the water seal; moreover, the openings at the middle and coke side of the furnace were modified to have a water seal design, resulting in them being about 200 millimeters higher, which caused the entire furnace surface to become uneven. No detailed investigation was conducted regarding the impacts on the furnace body, gas collection pipe pressure, coal gas, the quality of chemical products, and the chemical production process equipment. What I want to know is whether there is any waste gas escaping from the machine side On the furnace top, even with a smoke and dust removal vehicle, no smoke is produced; on the machine side, a small amount of smoke escapes every 30 seconds or so per furnace cycle.
Regarding this technology, at a seminar organized last time by the China Coking Industry Association in Linfen, Shanxi, the organizer, Shanxi Linfen Tongshida Co., Ltd., did a good job in this area. There was no smoke at all on the side of the machine where coal is loaded; they used furnace door seals along with steam seals for that purpose, and smoke guidance systems were installed on the top of the furnace. You should go and take a look. When I went there, due to time constraints, I didn’t have the chance to examine it in detail, which is a bit regrettable :(
I haven’t been to the site with Tongshida, but I’ve seen the dust removal videos; they installed dust collectors on the trucks to handle the smoke from the machine side, and the dust removal effect is good. It’s just said that the vibration of the truck body affects the pre-spraying of the dust collectors.
