Why should we upgrade?

I have always found that many members, especially new ones, complain about slow upgrades, limited permissions, and the inability to access certain materials. Now that the grade score has been lowered, I’ve finally risen to the fourth grade; I’m really happy. But amidst the joy, there seemed to be a slight sense of loneliness in my heart. To be honest, on the path of upgrading, there’s one thing I’ve noticed quite clearly: participating in forum discussions earns much more points than participating in discussions in other sections. I won’t go into further analysis as to why that is. It is common to find that in the forum’s discussion sections, a regular discussion post can earn more than one charm point or over 10 wealth points, while in other sections, a good topic post or reply only receives 1 or 2 charm points or a few wealth points at most. However, our forum is not a task-management forum; it is a technical forum focused on the chemical industry. Such a tendency to influence ratings is clearly not what the forum aims for, and we hope this will draw the attention of the moderators or management team. Additionally, I found that the depth of the discussions in the forum, as well as their overall quality, are not very high. There are various reasons for this, but I think one factor is closely related to whether a good discussion post receives appropriate recognition and relatively reasonable ratings. Please, moderators, do not hesitate to use your authority – compared to getting 5 wealth points just for logging in daily, a well-crafted post that requires a lot of effort and attention deserves substantial rewards. Regarding the understanding of achievements and wealth, I think (purely my personal opinion) that I feel it more as a form of recognition from others. On Haichuan, points and wealth should, to a certain extent, reflect the recognition given by Haichuan, as well as by moderators and even administrators; only in this way do wealth and points become more meaningful. If the score we see is very high, but the contribution to the forum isn’t necessarily great, then how can the difference in value between primary schools and universities be reflected? Where does the enthusiasm for upgrading come from, unless it’s simply the desire to accumulate wealth by downloading things frantically? If we take the topic a step further, Bill Gates certainly doesn’t lack money. Yet he still works extremely hard – why is that? Many members on our forum who are in grades 4 or 5 or above can be considered little Bill Gateses. I think that if the forum relies solely on points or wealth as a means of motivation, it will be difficult for us to find reasonable reasons for advancing. Because if a player at level 9 isn’t any better than a player at level 1, then why would anyone want to advance in rank? Finally, let me organize my thoughts on what I wanted to say: only by recognizing the value of technical discussions and acknowledging people’s contributions to the forum, and reflecting this through points and ratings, will more high-quality, in-depth posts appear on the forum, thus making it even better! I totally agree; however, I’m striving to upgrade so that I can be in the fifth grade and have the permission to download a book.:L
I agree with the original poster... However, the rating criteria are not yet very standardized and need further improvement. After all, the online environment cannot be managed as easily as the real world. I’ve met a few friends on the forum; we discuss problems together and exchange opinions, which helps me learn a lot. In any case, communicating and learning on the forum remains the most important thing.
Replying to the original poster: Half a month ago, a notice was issued to the management team regarding Version 2 of the management office and affairs area – one that called for reducing internal points and lowering the scoring in Area 2. However, good suggestions and plans will still earn extra points.
Why upgrade? There is no need to pursue an upgrade in the first place. The purpose of coming to the forum is to communicate. For me, an upgrade merely allows me to get better download privileges; to be honest, I’ve already passed the stage where I needed a large amount of download resources. However, it is difficult to build a good forum; without a positive atmosphere for communication and if one focuses solely on upgrading while losing a sense of normality, then the purpose of the forum will gradually be lost.
An upgrade can give people hope every day, as well as anticipation for the future! Just as the original poster said, I’m really happy to have upgraded to grade 4! An upgrade is also a sign of contribution to the forum! Everyone shares this idea: the forum will get better and better! It’s just my personal opinion! The forum has been committed to development, constantly exploring the path forward. Sometimes, a good suggestion or idea can have an unexpected positive impact on its development. This is perhaps why the forum’s discussion sections are under the direct management of the leader, and why the ratings there tend to be higher.

There must be goals to have motivation... It’s good to implement some measures that encourage active participation from everyone. Otherwise, if the forum remains in such a dull atmosphere, it will seem lifeless. Everyone should feel comfortable coming to the forum, so as to have a better mood for communication and discussion :handshake :handshake
It is indeed hard to understand why the forum offers no corresponding benefits or incentives for those with high privileges (except for management).
To be honest, I want to upgrade so as to increase my points, get rid of the \"newbie\" label, and also gain higher download permissions! But I will still try to level up by sharing high-quality materials and posting meaningful posts
Among the five basic human needs, the need for value realization belongs to the higher-tier needs. Put simply, everyone needs recognition from others and the opportunity to realize their own self-worth, and others’ recognition is a form of response to that realization of self-worth. Therefore, it is normal for people to be vain; it is also one of the motivations that drive them to strive forward, whether in real life or in the virtual world. Online games are loved by many people, who are obsessed with leveling up; think about it, what is the driving force behind that? So if HaiChuan can provide everyone with a platform and opportunities for self-actualization, I believe it has the potential to become the most influential technology forum in China. Isn’t upgrading meant to get better and more books?
In some cases, high-level access permissions objectively encourage those who need the information to make an effort to upgrade in order to obtain it； Sometimes, the reason for upgrading is just to get a piece of information one wants. Perhaps different people have different purposes.
I came to this forum with the intention of exchanging technical knowledge. I believe that most people share the same goal as me. Maybe it’s better to go chat or watch an online movie instead. It makes sense for the forum to be divided into levels. The advanced mountain gate is the teacher. We type hard, hoping that once others give their approval and assign scores, we will have some rights to download some materials. It’s human nature! It’s a pity that the path to upgrading is so long. The cauliflower I was waiting for has also turned yellow! But to obtain the true scriptures, it’s worth staying and continuing to write!
