Production and purification of monomers. The basic raw material for synthetic rubber is monomers, and common methods for refining them include distillation, washing, and drying. Polymerization process: The polymerization process is the process in which monomers undergo a polymerization reaction under the action of initiators and catalysts to form polymers. Sometimes one aggregation device is used, and sometimes multiple ones are used in series. The polymerization processes for synthetic rubber mainly involve emulsion polymerization and solution polymerization. Currently, styrene-butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, butyl rubber, and butyl-acrylate rubber are produced using emulsion polymerization. Post-treatment: Post-treatment is the process by which the material resulting from the polymerization reaction (latex or glue) is processed through steps such as removal of unreacted monomers, coagulation, dehydration, drying, and packaging, to ultimately produce finished rubber. The coagulation process in emulsion polymerization primarily involves the addition of electrolytes or polymeric coagulants to disrupt the emulsion and cause the colloidal particles to precipitate. The coagulation process in solution polymerization is mainly based on hot water coagulation.
