Should the welding procedure qualification for boilers be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Boiler Code, or those of the Welding Procedure Qualification for Steel Pressure Vessels?
Of course, it’s the boiler regulations – those represent the highest standards for boilers. I’ve heard that the new version of 4708 is supposed to be applicable to boilers, but the official version hasn’t been released yet. It’s still necessary to follow the boiler regulations.
JBT4708-2000 has been released; it is the standard for the evaluation of boiler processes, but it does not represent the strictest requirements. The strictest requirements are set out in the \"Regulations on Safety Supervision of Steam Boilers\", issued by the Ministry of Labor under document No. 276 (1996)
It shall be carried out in accordance with the boiler process evaluation standards, while ensuring compliance with the steam regulations.
