Equipment designed for heat retention needs to be coated with a primer; topcoat is not required. Equipment installed indoors may not need to be painted
White steel pipelines can be insulated directly without applying a primer, but ordinary carbon steel pipelines require a primer before insulation. Pipelines carrying media that need to be cooled do not need insulation, but they must have a primer applied for corrosion protection, followed by a topcoat.
The surface of stainless steel does not need to be painted, but carbon steel surfaces do require painting, as certain insulating materials (such as rare earths) can cause slight corrosion on carbon steel

It is necessary to consider factors such as the medium involved, whether high temperatures are present, and the external environment. Stainless steel (0G r18Ni9 Ti) can be insulated without painting; for pipes exposed to high temperatures, painting is generally not recommended.
Of course, carbon steel equipment needs to be coated with a primer and an intermediate coat before insulation; Whether stainless steel equipment needs to be painted depends on the chloride content of the insulation material; if it exceeds the limit, a primer and an intermediate coat should be applied.
