The Diversity of the Forum – Talking Again About Practicality and Theory

Today is the weekend, so I’d like to chat a bit with everyone. Since the entertainment section of the forum has been removed, I’ll put this here for now; it probably doesn’t count as spam either. I’ve been reading the posts of other forum members lately; I need to keep learning too. Some phenomena were also studied at the same time. To save time on writing, I will use a list to analyze for you the various aspects of forums. 1. Collection type. It doesn’t matter what it is; just download it and keep it safe. It’s not reassuring to have good things lying around, in case they disappear someday. Never mind whether it’s useful now or not. 2. The flight-catching type. Shouting loudly, “Who will help me? No one will help me——the boss fired me, I don’t have a topic for my thesis and can’t graduate,...” 3. Resistant type. Do I have to pay to download attachments too? More permissions? 4. Statistics bureau type. Find out: the salaries, bonuses, career progression, and ages of the forum members? Have you changed jobs recently? Big prizes for participants! 5. Do not understand rhetorical questions. I’m sending something to everyone; take a look and see if there are any problems with it 6. Copy machine model. Reply to posts carelessly, copy and paste articles obtained from somewhere using the left and right mouse buttons; it’s up to you to see if they’re useful – they might not be useful to you but could be useful to others. 7. Impatient type. Why hasn’t anyone answered this question? Moderators, technical team... can you answer questions faster? 8. Seek the Buddha form. If you have a problem, come to the forum; once it’s solved, goodbye ； Upgrades and wealth are useless; anyway, no wealth is needed to ask questions, and generally someone will respond once a question is asked. 9. Meeting-type. I have a question for everyone; would you like to discuss it? 10. Other types. Such as irrigation, posting repetitive messages, and every means taken to make money, and so on. These are all illusory things, things that are intangible and fleeting. On forums (not just Haichuan Forum), things like wealth and rank are meaningless; there is no such thing as newcomers or veterans among those who participate, and those with lower ranks do not necessarily have less knowledge. The most important thing is the participation of those who come to the forum. By participation, I mean positive engagement; if someone comes to the forum but avoids making eye contact with others and talks around the subject, then they are just spamming, posting repetitive messages, or even trying to manipulate others. Some people say, “I’m a newcomer; I can’t help others,” but that’s wrong. Everyone always has the ability and ways to do something for others, unless they don’t want to. Doing things for others and participating in activities with others – that is being practical. You can gain knowledge, even just from a single sentence. Downloading materials and collecting them is mere formality; studying them thoroughly is what counts as being practical ； Asking others for help without even thinking about the problem first is impractical; asking them and then expecting them to provide further answers is even more impractical. Weiqi is always so sharp and insightful: lol Everyone’s reason for coming to Haichuan is different, but those who come and stay do so because there is something about Haichuan that attracts them. Although this attraction may not be the same reason why other students like Haichuan. For me, it’s the atmosphere of equal communication here, as well as everyone’s enthusiasm in helping to solve technical problems, which allows me to learn a lot. Practicing introspection is also a part of work and life, but pragmatism should still hold absolute dominance; otherwise, things will be put in the wrong order, and we will fail to make real progress.

Add one more: the hobbyist type, who is accustomed to competitive environments like QQ, and seeks to obtain the various benefits offered by different forums in the fastest possible way, without knowing how to make good use of them.
It’s a bit unfair of the original poster to say that; we should start by considering human nature. Which member signed up with the intention of helping others? Everyone does it to get what they want. They download things as soon as they see something good, ask questions immediately when there are problems, and post replies just to earn some money. These are indeed selfish behaviors. But once they receive genuine help from others, and their computer hard drives are filled with books, will they still act in such a selfish way? At that point, they will calm down and ask themselves whether they really need so many books. If others genuinely help them, shouldn’t they do something in return for them? That way, they will become more practical. Everyone is growing and changing; don’t focus only on their initial behavior – give others a fair evaluation!

Regardless of the motivation or methods, whether through positive guidance or otherwise, everything contributes to helping HaiChuan improve. The original poster does have a quite profound understanding of the issue.
The Weiqi instructor has summarized the bad behaviors of forum members; those of us who are enthusiastic should step in to add to this summary and offer useful suggestions to reduce and curb such behaviors, rather than just expressing regretful opinions! The person who said that about those with low freezing points is right; most members who come to this forum do so with the intention of learning or meeting their own needs, rather than to help others. Therefore, the forum should rely on rules and guidance in order to encourage more active communication and a willingness to help others among its members! In my opinion, the number of forum users and the amount of wealth available there are increasing too rapidly. In times of chaos, strict rules are necessary; strict guidelines for posting and forum regulations should be enforced, with severe penalties for violations. Those who are willing to answer questions and help others should be rewarded more, as accuracy in answers is less important than whether their responses are carefully thought out and expressed in a coherent manner No rewards will be given for simple copies or replies full of spelling mistakes!

The summary is excellent! Haha, actually sometimes it’s an exaggeration; things aren’t that serious. Some posterers try to attract attention by acting very anxious, but I still hope everyone will take their issues seriously. No matter how urgent it is, the priority should be solving the problem, rather than just chatting or watching others act! ! Right? ?
