The storage, pretreatment, and operating conditions for DuPont’s N2010 ion exchange membrane are similar to those of other ion exchange membranes. It should be stored in an environment with a temperature of at least 4 degrees Celsius. For pretreatment, it is immersed in 25% alkaline solution for 24 hours. The operating conditions are similar to those of Asahi’s ion exchange membranes, with no special requirements. The chlorine production cells we use have been equipped with both Asahi’s and DuPont’s membranes, and the operating procedures remain the same in both cases
May I ask what the purpose of preprocessing is? Is it to convert the acyl fluoride type to the sodium type? What are the temperature requirements for preprocessing?
The ion membrane of DuPont N2010 is of the sodium type, so it can be installed in the cell directly without any pre-treatment; however, pre-treatment is preferable if done. It is best to keep the cell filling temperature around 40 degrees, as this prevents the membrane from wrinkling after it expands and is inserted into the electrochemical cell. You should ask the supplier about storage, operating conditions, etc. In my opinion, it’s essentially no different from other membranes.
