Discussion: Is it strictly prohibited in our forum to serve as a moderator in two forums?

As long as an individual has the energy, they should be allowed to hold two positions, especially since some tasks involve relatively less work. By allowing it, I mean part-time work in two sections of this forum. If one is also working part-time on other forums, it will definitely affect the quality of management on this forum. Hehe, indeed people’s energy is limited; managing forums is also a demanding task, and handling several forums at once will surely affect the quality of management. Those of us who are very busy with work certainly don’t have the time for it, but there are some student moderators on campus (the exact number hasn’t been counted; Hai Chuan might be one of them as well). They have plenty of time and a wide range of interests, so we can’t impose restrictions on them (we actually can’t do that either).

It depends on the situation; for highly specialized sections, one cannot handle two areas at the same time. For sections related to information and documents, it is possible to take on additional responsibilities if there is enough time!

Part-time work is exhausting. Poorly managing moderators and team members who fail to meet performance standards can be asked to leave, but there is no need to ban those who work part-time.

Personally, I think as long as one has the energy to do so, and as long as it doesn’t disrupt the order of the forum (such as trying to recruit members here), then having two forums in which one is active part-time isn’t a problem at all

The OP has raised a really good and sharp question; it’s quite difficult to answer.   It is difficult for either the proponents (who are in favor of serving as moderators on two forums) or the opponents (who are against it) to justify their positions.   No matter how well the pro side argues, it will inevitably face objections from the con side: by having your foot in two boats, can you ensure your focus? Or can you guarantee that you won’t switch sides to take advantage of others? Furthermore, will this harm the interests of the forum? After all, not everything can achieve a win-win outcome through sharing; under certain competitive pressures, exclusivity can sometimes be better than sharing.   However, the arguments on the pro side seem quite compelling as well: what ways are there to prevent it? Coercive measures may run counter to the free nature of BBS and backfire. The compromise approach is: not to encourage it, but nor to restrict it.   Is there really no consistent answer? At least that’s the case for now. Faced with this problem, reason is utterly helpless. Let emotion express the view: those who serve as moderators for two BBS boards – HCBBS will always remain something you cherish!   I suddenly thought about whether the forum has a debate feature; if it does, that might be a good thing, but this topic alone is enough to generate plenty of debate.

There is no need for a complete ban, nor is it possible to implement one. As long as it is beneficial to the management and development of the forum one is in charge of, part-time work is perfectly fine!

I have served as an moderator for two different forums, and I found that the total number of management actions performed is simply added up; this makes it difficult to determine which forum he pays more attention to, or if he doesn’t pay attention to any of them at all!

He invited me to serve as a super moderator for their forum; it was an invitation from a friend, so I had no choice but to accept. I serve as a moderator on HaiChuan out of my own willingness. Either is fine; it’s better to look at things from another perspective. In other words, judge by this standard: whether it’s a black cat or a white cat, as long as it can catch mice, it’s a good cat :lol :lol :lol.
