The current projects of our company use water softening units, with an operating pressure of around 0.3 Mpa. The pressure in the water inlet pipeline is 1.0 Mpa, so a pressure regulator is necessary. Due to a lack of knowledge regarding the appropriate models of pressure regulators, the one selected caused problems in operation: when the water softening unit was not in use, the pressure indicated by the pressure gauge downstream of the regulator increased gradually, resulting in the rupture of the outlet pipeline of the water softening tank due to excessive pressure. A safety valve should be installed after the pressure relief valve – have you installed it? :)
I agree with what was said on the 2nd floor; either use the same pipe grade as before the pressure regulator, or choose the same grade for the pipes after it. But if the pipes are long in that case, it’s a bit wasteful, haha
Thank you all for your suggestions. I am hoping that when the downstream equipment stops operating, the pressure relief valve can automatically shut off to prevent the pressure in the downstream pipes from rising.

First, you need to determine whether the pressure increase is caused by a leak in the bypass valve or by the pressure reducing valve. If it’s the pressure reducing valve, consider whether it might be too large for the system, resulting in overkill; in this case, once the pressure reducing valve is closed, normal leakage from it will cause the pressure in the system to rise
If it’s a relatively important location, it’s better to install a control valve – there are trade-offs involved!
