Our facility has newly installed an absorption tower with a diameter of around 1800. The tower uses corrugated plate packing, which seems to be made of PP. The designed temperature inside the tower was around 30 degrees, but now it has exceeded that by nearly 20 degrees. The packing height inside the tower shall be not less than 3 meters. I’m not sure if the current temperature will have a significant impact on the packing inside the tower. I’m quite worried that the packing might deform, leading to flooding. There shouldn’t be any major problems. PP is a crystalline polymer; among common plastics, PP is the lightest, with a density of only 0.91 g/cm3 (lower than that of water). Among general-purpose plastics, PP has the best heat resistance; its heat distortion temperature is 80–100°C, allowing it to be boiled in water. PP has good resistance to stress cracking and a very high bending fatigue life; it is commonly known as \"100-fold bend rubber\". The comprehensive performance of PP is superior to that of PE. PP products are lightweight, highly flexible, and resistant to chemicals. Disadvantages of PP: low dimensional accuracy, insufficient rigidity, poor weather resistance, and a tendency to suffer from \"copper damage\".
