Valve selection in the construction industry, which can be overlooked: In building piping systems, valves serve to control the flow of fluids. Due to differences in structure and material, the valves produced also vary. To ensure that the piping system achieves the highest efficiency, lowest costs, and longest service life, the proper selection of valves is crucial. Valves have four main functions: initiating and preventing the flow of fluid ; Adjust medium flow rate ; Prevent backflow or reverse flow, and regulate or release fluid pressure. The selection of building piping systems can be determined based on factors such as temperature, type of fluid, and temperature conditions. For example, signal valves should be used for the control valves of fire hydrants in high-rise buildings; this is crucial for ensuring that the fire hydrant system can be used effectively in case of a fire. By using signal valves for all the control valves of the fire hydrant system, and by allowing the open status of these valves to be displayed in the fire control center, it becomes easier for supervisors to monitor them. Although this increases the cost, the amount involved is minimal compared to the overall investment in the fire hydrant system. Moreover, it helps to improve the safety of the entire system, making such an investment worthwhile. The selection of valve types in a building’s piping system must be determined based on the characteristics of that building; if the valves used do not suit the design features of the building, various potential problems will arise.
